I have been researching my family tree for almost 15 years now. I’ve had many success’, including the meeting of many relatives still living in Ireland. I’ve also hit many brick walls that I continue to get over, around or through. Although frustrating, especially if you hit them to early into your search, they can be fun and challenging.
Over the years I’ve learned to leave no stone unturned in my searching. Cemetery headstones, old books, Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, The Hearth Money Rolls, Census fragments and many other resources have all become my “friends”.
Through the telling of my journey and a good resource base I hope that I can help others in THEIR journey to find just one MORE GENERATION!
The standards that everyone uses to begin their search (in Ireland) are Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, the Census Fragments and the Tithe Applotment Books. You’ll find complete explanations of them on separate pages.
Periodically, I hope to transcribe parts of the resources that I have collected over the years and refer you to other websites for many more.
Good Luck on your search and don’t hesitate to comment or post on your successes (or brick walls). Who knows, maybe we’re related!
